Goodgoat Linux is a CD, usb key bootable Linux that can be installed on the hard drive. Goodgoat uses the portage (gentoo) package manager.
The goal of goodgoat is to make an easy to use Linux that has few duplicated applications so that you don't have to dig through the menus to find the program that you want. We have spent endless hours finding the best of programs to be included on this Linux distro.
Currently we have a desktop focused Linux that can be tested from a CD or usb key without having to install to the hard drive. We can work with a wide range of older to new hardware. We use Xfce4 as our desktop for speed and low memory requirements. Gnome and KDE applications are supported without the heavy overhead.
Important: If you want to try goodgoat, go to the download area and get the latest cd iso file, a 700meg cd may be required. download list
The Origin of the goodgoat name: I live on a small farm and we have goats, chickens, horses, and dogs. My wife and I started saying what a good goat one day and it sounded cool. I thought goodgoat would be easy to remember and no one had taken the domain.
